Middle
School Discipline
Back to Middle
School
Our philosophy at Mount Airy Christian Academy is that students learn
best in a structured, disciplined environment. Students are expected to
respect and obey their authorities. Clear rules and consistent consequences
for failure to comply with those rules are critical for students, particularly
early adolescents. Middle School students are encouraged through our discipline
plan to take personal responsibility and maintain self-discipline. Students
are given positive reinforcement for appropriate behavior and readiness
to learn. Students receive warnings for minor offenses, and compliance
with dress code and tardiness is tracked. Office referrals and counseling
are used to help students learn correct behavior. We partner with the
parents to develop well-mannered and godly young men and women.
Incentives
Positive reinforcement for good behavior will be used in the classroom
and across the grades. For example, in the classroom the students may
gain time working on a preferred activity, or accumulate tickets for prizes,
as determined by the teacher. The Principal will occasionally give a reward
for altruistic behavior on the part of a student.
